Latkes have always been a part of our families’ traditions. I’ve incorporated the best part of my husband’s family’s latkes – the taste, with my side of the family’s – the texture. So when I heard that Caplansky’s was having their Latkepalooza, I knew I just had to enter our latkes to see how they stack up (so to speak).
Based on the votes of the restaurant patrons, our latkes took top prize. As Zane Caplansky said, “You’ve got the new guys with their newfangled latkes, but it was the tried and true that actually took the day. It was a classic, simple, latke recipe.”
Having made over 400 during Hannukah this year, I think we’ve got the recipe perfected.
